Touchstone to Launch DIR/Floortime Services with Mercy C.A.R.E.S. Support

Touchstone Health Services has received a Mercy C.A.R.E.S. Community Reinvestment Grant, an investment that will help expand access to services that support healthier communities across Arizona through the implementation of DIR/Floortime. This funding will directly support training and capacity-building efforts, equipping THS staff with the skills needed to successfully implement this model of care.

DIR/Floortime is a child-led, relationship-based therapy that focuses on meeting children at their developmental level, following their interests, and using play to strengthen communication, emotional regulation, and social skills. Grounded in the Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based (DIR) model, it emphasizes each child’s unique needs and the critical role of strong, supportive relationships in development.

Through this initiative, Touchstone will offer individualized Floortime sessions, caregiver training, and ongoing family support. The impact on the community will be significant—expanding access to an evidence-informed, family-centered intervention that supports children with autism and developmental challenges in building meaningful connections, improving daily functioning, and reaching their full potential. In addition, empowering caregivers with tools and training will strengthen family systems, reduce stress, and create more sustainable, long-term outcomes.

Touchstone is excited to begin implementing these services later this year to help fill a critical gap in Arizona, increasing access to specialized care and strengthening support for youth and families across the communities we serve.
