What is the difference between the various providers at Touchstone?

At Touchstone Health Services, Therapists play a central role in delivering trauma-informed care through individual, group, and family therapy across clinic, school, telehealth, community and home settings. Therapists and Care Coordinators lead Child and Family Team meetings, conduct assessments, and develop service plans tailored to each client’s needs. Care Coordinators serve as the bridge between families and service providers, helping clients navigate behavioral health systems, coordinating services, and addressing barriers to care such as transportation or access. Direct support staff (Whatever It Takes program, Behavioral Health Specialists and Early Childhood Specialists) provide hands-on assistance to individuals, supporting daily living tasks, implementing behavior plans, offering family support, and promoting independence through skill-building and community engagement. Each role is essential in fostering holistic, person-centered care across Touchstone’s programs. Our Psychiatrists, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for children, teens, and families. Psychiatric care is offered as part of Touchstone’s broader system of support, which includes therapy, community-based programs, and family services—helping children thrive at home, in school, and in the community. They complete psychiatric evaluations, on going medication management and consultations. Our psychiatric providers do not conduct: • Learning disability assessments • Neurological or psychological testing (including psychosexual, forensic, or court-related evaluations) • Brain mapping or genetic testing For specialized medical services such as pediatric neurology, developmental testing, or genetic evaluations, referrals must be obtained from your Primary Care Provider (PCP).
