Respite Program Overview

Touchstone Health Services has provided our Respite program for several years. This program is intended to provide a much-needed break for parents or guardians in time of high stress. This program is provided to children ages 8-17 years old. While these children are in the care of our Respite staff, parents can use this time to enjoy themselves or take care of responsibilities while knowing their children are being cared for by Touchstone staff.

“I like coming to Respite to use the art supplies for making crafts. I enjoy making crafts for ‘Ms. Dee’ and my other friends. Ms. Dee cheers me up. Ms. Dee and Ms. Najma encourages me to keep going, never give up and to pursue my dreams. I like coming to Respite as I learn about Respect. Ms. Dee gives me and my friends advice”

“I like coming to Respite to play video games on the Xbox. I like when Ms. Dee saves apples for me as I love apples. I like drawing and making crafts. I like making new friends. I like playing the Family Feud game because it teaches me skills.”

“I like coming to Respite because Ms. Dee and Ms. Najma teaches us how to calm down and manage anger. I make new friends. I enjoy being a helper to Ms. Dee. I think the Respite program is great!”

“I like coming to Respite because it takes my stress away. I like making new friends and playing. I get to bond with my sister and we don’t fight anymore. Coming to Respite creates a bond for my sister and my mom. I enjoy the snacks that Ms. Dee give me as I share them with my little sister. I like the games and activities and watching movies.”

What I like least about Respite is not having enough opportunity to socialize with same-age peers as I am the oldest one whenever the older kids don’t come to Respite”
